Russia will recognize Bitcoin as a legal tender. The Russian government and Central Bank are working on a measure to make Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies legal in the country.

According to the Kommersant news agency, a measure to legalize and control the circulation of Bitcoin and other digital currencies in the Russian Federation will be adopted before February 18.

Other similar transactions that do not fulfill the legal parameters will be regarded an aggravated criminal crime under the Penal Code.

BTC mining will be unaffected by regulations. Those that accept cryptocurrency as a payment instrument through unauthorized ways face additional penalties, including fines.
